The next generation 2018 Audi A4 Hybrid is likely to arrive at dealerships later this year or early next year. As of this writing, a reliable source has hinted at the likelihood of bringing it to the production world

2018 Audi A4 Hybrid – Loaded with top-spec features and power

Regarding exterior and interior, the 2018 Audi A4 Hybrid reflects the e-Tron Quattro concept shown earlier this year. It features flush and lightweight front doors with organic light emitting diodes. Audi says it plans to substitute the conventional mirrors with rear-view video cameras. The automaker laments that the next-gen A4 model is not only sporty but comes loaded with top-spec features and power.

The next-gen Audi A4 hybrid offers a premium driving experience to every user. It is the only model that Audi offers in a Sportback version. This model provides more than 43.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity on flipping the rear seats down. The e-Tron gets furnished with a lot of attributes, such as a panoramic sunroof, rearview camera, and LED running lights with e-Tron signature.

The interior of the 2018 Audi A4 Hybrid showcases several individual seats. The dashboard accommodates a vast graphical user interface comprising various display monitors, some for primary devices and others for infomercial systems. This vehicle also gets equipped with independent heating and a/c handles, which Audi has designed for the entryway and rear-seating passengers.

2018 Audi A4 Hybrid – Engine System

The 2018 Audi A4 Hybrid all-wheel-drive system consists of an internal combustion engine and an electric drive system. The internal combustion motor drives one axle while the electric drive system thrusts the other axle. This creates an AWD system without having to use any connecting drive shafts. A lot of car manufacturers are already leveraging such technology, including Volvo, BMW, Porsche, and Peugeot.

Reports indicate that the e-Quattro system initially becomes available in a high-end A4 variant. This variant will feature two electric motors; one motor is integrated with the engine and spins the front wheels while the other one drives the rear wheels. Hence, the car still maintains its all-wheel-drive even in all-electric driving mode.

Multiple driving modes will be feasible as the three power sources work independently. These include electric only (two-wheel or all-wheel-drive), engine only (front-wheel-drive), and hybrid (all-wheel-drive).

An available lithium-ion battery pack powers the electric motors. You can charge the battery with a household power outlet at home. However, you can use regenerative forces to refill it on the go. Audi is also planning a wireless charging system for charging at home. Recent news claims the purported system will rely on inductive coils. This technology is already offered in a new TT-based crossover called TTQ.
