Five months ago, a new hybrid version of the legendary mid-size premium sedan came, so there is no reason to expect some changes for the next-year 2018 BMW 530e model. This model is another electrified version of the iconic sedan and comes based on the newest generation that came last year.
So far, we have seen seven generations of it. The original model came in 1972, while the current version is present since last year. On the other side, versions with hybrid powertrain are present since the previous generation.
The new model comes with plenty of improvements. There is a completely new powertrain that combines gasoline and electric power and provides better economy and more power. It is a plug-in hybrid that offers an all-electric model and fast charging option. In other aspects, it is pretty much the same as conventional gasoline and diesel models.

The 2018 BMW 530e continue in the same way as the current 2017 year model. It is present for just half a year, so there is no need for changes. With a brand-new design, this model is going to be one of the most competitive sedans in the class. There is a completely new styling, which continues the evolution of the previous versions. Its shape is familiar and there are no radical changes at all. It is adapted to the latest design language of the brand, which includes already familiar headlight, while the grille comes in a pretty much familiar manner. The 2018 BMW 530e will continue to ride on the same new OKL platform. The company uses this architecture for the new 7 Series too. It utilizes new lightweight materials which provide significant weight savings. Inside, you will notice a new cabin design that combines modern and classic elements.

The 2018 BMW 530e will continue with the same powertrain. It is a plug-in hybrid which combines power from the gasoline engine and electric motor. Transmission is an 8-speed automatic. The rear-wheel drive is standard, while the AWD version is available too.
This amount of power is enough for great performances. The 2018 530e will be able to go from zero to sixty in about 6.2 seconds. Top speed will be around 145 miles per hour, and 90 miles per hour in the all-electric model. In the all-electric model, this car uses the power from the electric motor that comes with a 9.2-kWh battery pack. In this model, it has a max range around 28 miles.

Competition is tough, but arch-rivals will be models like Mercedes-Benz E350e, Jaguar XF and several other hybrid versions of the mid-size sedan segment.
