Rumors doing rounds have it that the 2019 BMW i3 Hybrid could officially debut sometime in late 2018. BMW has had nothing to offer ever since it launched the i3 and i8 models half a decade ago. However, emerging reports indicate the automaker could unveil updated versions of its EVs to compete favorably with the modern longer-range electric vehicles in the market.

According to a BMW insider, the next BMW i3 gets an upgraded battery pack with up to 43.2-kilowatt-hours. It is expected to hit an EPA rating of between 180 and 200 miles of electric range per full charge. 2019 BMW i3 Engine Specs

Last year, BMW gave a significant refresh to the i3 when it got a 33.kilowatt-hourur battery pack for a range of almost 114 miles. It marked a noteworthy update as the company replaced the aging 22 – kilowatt-hour battery pack with a new one. The upgrade enabled the BEV to reach 114 miles of range per charge.

The 33.2 kWh battery pack that is available in BMW i3s model cannot compete in the same league with the likes of Tesla Model 3 or Chevy Bolt EV concerning range. That is the reason why the German carmaker opted to work on another refresh for the i3 dubbed the 2019 BMW i3. The newest model is set to present a bigger battery option when it finally arrives later this year.
