After a last-year launch, it is pretty much for sure that the 2018 Chevrolet Bolt will come without bigger changes. This model came last year, as some completely new from GM. This is a subcompact hatchback, comes with a completely new powertrain. It is an electric vehicle which has plenty to offer. It isn’t cheap, but there are many benefits. For example, it has at least a two times better range than most of the electric cars on the market. When it comes to the base design characteristics, it has much in common with a plug-in hybrid Volt. Even its name is similar. For the next year, we do not expect changes. The 2018 Bolt will come probably identical in terms of styling. However, we could see some tweaks such as new color options. The same thing is expected inside, although we could see some new standard features.
2018 Chevrolet Bolt redesign
Last year, GM launched this small hatchback as something completely new. The new philosophy is that the electric car must be the same as the conventional car in pretty much all aspects, except powertrain. So, this model looks like an ordinary car. It is a small hatchback, which offers modest dimension but more than enough room inside. It shares many characteristics with the PHEV Volt. Those two models use the same chassis, design philosophy, interior etc. For the next year, it should continue in the pretty much same way. The 2018 Chevrolet Bolt will continue with the familiar design and probably same list of standard features, although some smaller tweaks are possible.
2018 Chevrolet Bolt LT
The 2018 Chevrolet Bolt will come in two trim levels. The base model will be LT and it will come with a full load of equipment. There are 17-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, a rearview camera, and keyless ignition and entry. It will also feature a configurable gauge cluster display, automatic climate control, a 10.2-inch touchscreen, OnStar, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and a six-speaker sound system with two USB ports. There are also some optional packages. The Comfort and Convenience package includes heated front seats, a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. There is also a Driver Convenience package, which includes several driver-assist features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.
2018 Chevrolet Bolt premier
The higher trim of 2018 Chevrolet Bolt will be called Premier. This model comes with all those features mentioned above. It adds roof rails, leather seats, ambient interior lighting, heated rear seats, a center rear armrest, a top-down parking camera system and an upgraded, camera-based rearview mirror. This trim also has some optional packages in the offer. There is an Infotainment package, which comes with things like the premium sound system, several convenience features for rear passengers etc. Finally, there is also a Driver Convenience II package, with things like forward collision warning system with pedestrian detection and low-speed automatic emergency braking, a lane departure warning and intervention system etc.
2018 Chevrolet Bolt powertrain
The 2018 Chevrolet Bolt will continue with the same nickel-rich lithium-ion chemistry. There is a powerful electric motor, which delivers around 200 horses and 266 pound-feet of torque. This amount of power is enough for some decent performances. This car needs around seven seconds to reach 60 miles per hour, which a top speed is around 90 miles per hour. However, the efficiency is the main thing about this car. It features a 60kWh battery with 288 cells. This provides an amazing range of 238 miles. When you turn this to gallon numbers, it features a fuel economy equal to 119 miles per gallon in the combined ride.
2018 Chevrolet Bolt release date and price
Since it will not feature bigger changes, the 2018 Chevrolet Bolt will come late in the year. It will feature pretty much the same price as the current model, which goes in a range between 37.000 and 42.000 dollars.
