Since the company did an update for the current 2017 year model, it is pretty much for sure that the 2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid will continue with no changes. All these modifications made this famous MPV more competitive and we are pretty sure that next change will come in several years and that will include a complete redesign. Until then, it will continue in the pretty much same way.
This excellent MPV originally came in 2003. It was first known as Focus C-Max but the company later established an independent nameplate, although even the current model has most in common with the legendary compact sedan and hatchback. The current model is in the second generation, which is present since 2013. As we already mentioned, the company did several modifications last year, mostly in terms of styling, while two powertrain options remained unchanged.

Just like we said, the 2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid will continue with the same powertrain. There are two variants of this MPV. There is a model called 2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid, while the other version is called C-Max energy, and it is a plug-in hybrid. The 2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid comes with a classic hybrid design. It features a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that comes in a combination with electric motor and small 1.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This total system makes a max output of 188 horsepower, which is more than enough for some decent performances. Besides the nice amount of power, it also features a good fuel economy. According to EPA ratings, this car returns around 38 mpg in the city, 42 on a highway and 40 mpg combined.
2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid energy
As we already mentioned, there is another hybrid version of this popular MPV. Besides classic hybrid version, there is also a plug-in hybrid. This model is called C-Max energy and it features pretty much the same powertrain as Hybrid. However, it has a much bigger, 7.6-kWh battery pack. So, the combination of a 141-hp gasoline engine and 35-kW electric motor gives the same combined output of 188 horsepower. However, you get a little bit more torque. In terms of economy, this model gives similar results as Hybrid, around 40 miles per gallon combined. The biggest advantage of this model is that the battery is big enough, so electric motor can run the car by itself. In the all-electric mode, this model returns over 95 mpg, while the max range is around 20 miles.
2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid release date and price
The 2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid will come late in the year. We expect no changes in terms of price. So, the base Hybrid should go around 25.000, while the Energy starts around 28.000 dollars. When it comes to the competition, there are many compact hybrids on the market, so we can say that the competition is pretty tough nowadays. Some of the key players are Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Volt, Hyundai Ioniq, Kia Niro, Audi A3 e-tron and others.
