The famous Japanese manufacturer is going to expand its offer with the new 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid. The excellent family SUV is finally going to get an electrified version. Although it dates from 2002, we haven’t seen a hybrid version of this crossover so far. There are three generations so far and the current model is present since 2015. The third generation of this crossover came with many novelties and we are about to see a hybrid version soon. Besides new powertrain, we expect to see several other changes.
Most likely, the 2019 Pilot Hybrid will include few other changes. We will probably see some mild refresh that will even include some visual tweaks. Also, some new distinctive details on this particular version are possible as well. However, don’t expect to see anything significant. This crossover is a true family car, so forget about those critics about not-so-attractive styling and similar things. The hybrid version will continue with the same styling, although some updates of the whole Pilot lineup are possible for the next year. According to some reports, we are about to see some smaller update that will include few visual tweaks too. Also, we could see some unique details which will separate this version from the rest of the Pilot models. Those details will be definitely minor. The same is expected inside. We are about to see a familiar cabin. Although, the dashboard could come with few new details, usual for hybrid cars.

The 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will be very well equipped, comparable to higher trims of the conventional version. So, expect to see a long list of standard features. Besides extremely generous offer of space, we are about to see a whole bunch of premium features. There are things like leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheels, power-adjustable front seats, touchscreen interface with navigation and a 10-speaker audio system. Also, Honda Sensing will be a standard feature. This package includes various advanced safety features. Some of them are adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation with automatic braking, a road departure intervention system, a forward collision warning system, and lane departure warning and intervention systems. Besides generous offer of standard features, there will be several optional packages, as well as a whole bunch of standalone optional features.
2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid powertrain
The 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will most likely use the same powertrain as the new Honda Accord Hybrid. This powertrain includes a combination of 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a high-output, 181-horsepower electric motor. Total power goes around 212 horses, which should be enough to provide a pleasant ride of the new crossover. Expect to see the same battery pack with a capacity of 1.3 kWh.
When it comes to the fuel economy, we can hardly expect those amazing numbers from Accord. The legendary sedan returns around 50 miles per gallon in a combined ride, which is quite impressive. Due to more weight, the new crossover should feature slightly lower numbers, but still quite impressive ones.
2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid release date and price
The new 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will certainly come in the second half of next year. However, we still don’t know a more precise release date. Some reports suggest that the new version will come in the third quarter of the next years. On the other side, expect higher price compared to the gasoline version. To remind you, base Honda Pilot goes under 32.000 dollars. Due to hybrid powertrain and better equipment, this version should cost much more.
