After the last-year update, Korean manufacturer already started to work on the next generation, which will include some electrified versions as well. One of these variants will be 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid. The famous crossover is one of the company’s most popular model and it is a real wonder that we didn’t see the hybrid version in the offer so far.
The model that originally came in 2000 is in the third generation at the moment. Although updated last year, the current version is basically a model that came in 2012. So, expect various changes. First of all, the company is going to introduce a new platform. Just like with the current version, expect two variants in the offer. The first one is with two rows, while the version with longer wheelbase includes an additional third row of seats. Expect new 2019 Santa Fe Hybrid to arrive next year.
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid redesign
After few experiments with design in past 17 years, the current version established itself as a high competitor in the segment of mid-size crossovers. The current model makes great sale numbers, which are in constant increase. So, this redesign should even improve these numbers. The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid will come as a new version of the crossover. It will follow all redesign changes that are about to come next year. The fourth generation of the famous crossover is already in the testing stage.
A test mule has been spotted on the road. Although it still wears a complete camouflage, we can notice some changes. There is a new styling, but some sources also suggest some naming changes. According to those reports, a long-wheelbase three-row version is about to get its old Veracruz name.
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid styling
As we mentioned, the mule still wears a camouflage. However, we can notice some new, pretty distinctive details even through this cover. First of all, there is a new headlights design. A daylight lights are now separated from the main lighting group. Their position is now at the top near the leading edge of the hood.
On the other side, main projectors are below and come in a vertical structure. Also, we can notice a new cascading grille. This feature had its premiere in the new 2018 Elantra GT and it seems it became a part of the brand’s new design language. Another interesting feature on the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid is new side mirrors, positioned on the doors instead of at the base of the A-pillars.
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid powertrain
The new generation of this crossover will finally get the electrified version. Although the arrival of these versions is certain, we still don’t know exact details. Most likely, we will see both hybrid and plug-in versions. We believe that the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid will feature similar powertrain as the current Sonata, although some modifications are possible. In this sedan, a classic hybrid model features a 2.0-liter gasoline engine in a combination with an electric motor. It comes with a max power of 193 horses. On the other side, a plug-in hybrid features a slightly more powerful electric motor, as well as a larger battery pack. In this version, total output goes up to 202 horsepower.
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid release date
The new generation of Hyundai’s mid-size crossover will debut next year, as the 2019 year model. A hybrid version should come right after. Some reports suggest that the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid will feature a base price somewhere between 27.000 and 30.000 dollars. Competition is tough. There are models like Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Ford Edge etc.
