2018 Jaguar XE-E Review, Specs

Famous British manufacturer is going to introduce a completely new hybrid version of its compact sedan, 2018 Jaguar XE-E. Two years ago, the company introduced a completely new entry-level sedan, which came as a successor of X-Type.

Engineers from Jaguar made a great effort to make a model that will bring back the glory of the iconic car maker. It looks like they managed to do that. The new model received excellent critics and also makes some nice sales results. We can say that the new sedan is quite successful. The company won’t stop on that. According to some reports, we are about to see a new powertrain option in the offer.

Besides numerous diesel and gasoline units, we will now have a hybrid variant in the offer as well. Although we don’t have enough information about new version, it should come somewhere next year.

2018 Jaguar XE-E redesign

When it comes to the base design characteristics, 2018 Jaguar XE-E will come pretty much the same as gasoline and diesel models. We will see the same design. This sedan is the first model from the brand that rides on a new IQ modular platform. This architecture is so versatile that will be used for various future models from Jaguar and Land Rover. This architecture features a perfect 50:50 balance and it is characterized by a massive use of lightweight materials. The almost whole body of the 2018 Jaguar XE-E will be made of aluminum.

When it comes to the interior design, 2018 Jaguar XE-E will come with the same cabin as base gasoline and diesel models. When it comes to space, this sedan meets some average numbers of the class. On the other side, the quality of materials inside could be better.

2018 Jaguar XE-E features

When it comes to standard equipment, 2018 Jaguar XE-E will come with plenty of features. Leatherette upholstery is standard, while leather seats with heating and ventilation are optional. Compared to the base gasoline model, we expect to see more equipment on this one. So, things like a larger  10.2-inch touch-screen infotainment system, InControl Apps, a Wi-Fi hotspot, an 11- or 17-speaker Meridian audio system, satellite radio, a voice recognition system, and a head-up display should be standard. Also, we believe that all those safety features like automatic emergency braking, active lane keep assist, driver drowsiness monitoring, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a traffic sign recognition system, a rearview camera, a 360-degree camera, active park assist, and front and rear parking sensors should be standard.

2018 Jaguar XE-E powertrain

The company didn’t give any information about the possible hybrid powertrain. So, it is hard to predict will it be a classic or a plug-in hybrid model. According to some reports, the company works on a new hybrid powertrain that will power various models from Jaguar and Land Rover. Most likely, it will be a mild hybrid that will combine a familiar 2.0-liter gasoline engine with some small electric source of power. This engine is good for about 240 horses and 250 pound-feet of torque.

On the other side, the electric motor should provide some nice amount of additional power and torque. Battery pack definitely won’t be big enough to run this car on its own. Besides this new hybrid version, we will see pretty much the same gasoline and diesel engines in the offer.

Despite the fact that it will be a hybrid car, it will compete with the pretty much same models as standard gasoline and diesel versions. So, there are models like Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Alfa Romeo Giulia and many others.
