2018 Lexus LS 500h – Design Update

The 2018 Lexus LS 500h is based on the same Lexus Global Architecture-Luxury (GA-L) platform as its LS 500 sibling and the LC coupe. This ensures a low center of gravity, ideal weight distribution and a highly rigid chassis. This vehicle delivers a dynamic driving performance, with the all new braking, steering and stability systems.

At the front, the 2018 Lexus LS 500h gets a unique and bold spindle grille outlined in chrome. The headlights have a Z shape and unique wing-shaped signature lighting. The LED tail lights feature Lexus L signature lighting.

The vehicle is longer that its outgoing version, with a wheelbase that is 1.3 inches longer. The car is altogether 0.6 inches lower, with hood 1.2 inches lower and trunk 1.6 inches lower. This lower and longer body gives the vehicle a striking appearance. High-strength steel, as well as aluminum, are used to shed 2000 pounds from the platform as well. The vehicle will sit on 19-inch wheels.

Luxurious and Innovative Cabin

On the inside, a luxurious and innovative cabin awaits you. Inspired by the Japanese aesthetics and craftsmanship, the expertise is seen in the hybrid’s unique door trim, interior lighting, pleating treatment and Kiriko glasswork. Wood, metal, and leather work create an upscale environment. The ambient lighting adds a touch of class at night.

However, the cabin of the 2018 Lexus LS 500h is equipped with the front and rear seats that have power adjustment, heating, cooling, and massage functions.

Other standard features include a 12.3-inch touch screen display pocketed in the dashboard, active noise cancellation and a Mark Levison 3D sound system.

Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, and intelligent high beams, come as standard safety features for driver assistance. This 2018 Lexus LS 500h also has the Advanced Safety Package which includes a Pedestrian Detection system with Active Steering.

It is also paired with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery, which is 20 percent smaller yet has a higher power density than the nickel-metal hydride unit of the outgoing LS 600h L. The Lexus also quotes that the 2018 LS accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The car will have a maximum fuel economy rating of 23 mpg on the highway.
