Although not among the newest and most modern MPVs on the market, the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid has definitely evolved over the years. This 8-seat family MPV is mainly sold throughout Southeast Asia, and it has achieved a cult status thanks to its features. Also, even though the Serena has a rather hefty price tag, it is still the best selling MPV in the region.
This only talks about Serena’s qualities and Nissan’s efforts to continually improve its vehicle. The latest Serena model features a number of exterior additions, some interior improvements, as well as better suspension.
Nissan Serena S-Hybrid – Exterior Look, Design and Updates
Outside, we can easily see Nissan’s devotion and effort to make its MPV as attractive as possible. So, what can we see on the new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid? Well, for starters, we can see a completely new front grille, which is surrounded by a pair of revised and sleeker front headlights.
Thanks to these, the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid looks much more modern and appealing than the previous models. In addition, its rear lights have also received an update. Now, they feature a unique S-shape lightning pattern, which nicely compliments the vehicle’s tailgate. If that wasn’t enough, the bumpers have received a notable overhaul as well. Both the front and the rear bumper have a more pronounced and sharper front end. On the sides, we can see the same tires used by the previous models. Fortunately, this one comes with a much more attractive set of rims.
Interior Styling and Equipment
Moving on inside, we can see why the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid is one of the most popular MPVs on the market. Its interior is absolutely massive, with triangle A-pillars and a long sweeping windscreen. Even though this is a CKD model, the interior fittings are still very tight and nice. When speaking of comfort, we should mention leather covered seats, which offer a decent amount of comfort, but not so much in terms of support.
Thankfully, they can be folded in such a way that the MPV can almost triple its available cargo space. The vehicle can easily accommodate up to 8 adults and offer an abundance of legroom, headroom, and cargo room. In the front, we can see a practically designed dashboard, with plenty of well-placed, sturdy controls and durable materials. To add to the convenience, Nissan has also decided to equip its MPV with 2 electrically-powered sliding doors as well.
Engine Specs and Performance
The new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid sports a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, which is also accompanied by a small electric motor. This engine is capable of producing around 147 horsepower and it comes with the XTronic transmission system. The new model will have 27 Ah battery that powers radio, wipers, and lights alongside the regular 64 Ah cell that energizes the motor. However, the fuel economy will be around 24 mpg.
Now, even though the engine is classified as a hybrid, the electric engine actually does not provide any performance boost to the vehicle. Instead, its main purpose is to provide power for the MPV’s electronic systems.
Release Date and Price of the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid
