According to some reports, GM is going to bring back its sporty plug-in hybrid next year, as 2018 Cadillac ELR. This model originally came in 2013 and it was in production until last year. The company introduced a luxury compact coupe with a hybrid powertrain and had big expectation from in. It shared most of its characteristics with the famous Chevrolet Volt, including completely the same powertrain. However, the new model didn’t manage to make some decent sales results, so discontinuation was pretty much expected. However, some reports suggest that the new version of this plug-in hybrid will come next year. On the other side, one electric motor is good for about 117 horses, while the other has 64 horsepower. A battery pack has a capacity of 18.4 kWh. The great thing about this powertrain is that it could operate in three modes. In a combined mode, this coupe will feature amazing performances. It will also feature a great fuel economy of 77 mpg in a combined drive. There is also a gasoline-only model, which provides great performances but 42 miles per gallon. In all-electric mode, this coupe should be able to return around 106 mpg. Total all-electric range should be over 50 miles.

The arrival of new 2018 Cadillac ELR is still uncertain. The original model was discontinued after only three years of production, due to slow sales. So, you shouldn’t be so optimistic about this rumored comeback. At this moment, the second generation is just a speculation, so it is pretty useless to talk about price. The original model was around 75.000 dollars, but the new model will definitely have to feature lower price.
