We heard various stories about the iconic sports car, but latest reports suggest that its electrified version will come already next year, as 2019 Porsche 911 Hybrid. To remind you, company’s management dismissed this version first. A few months ago, we heard that this version will come in 2023. Now, it looks like the new version is going to come much earlier than we expected.
According to the latest report, the 2019 911 Hybrid will come along with the new generation of a conventional internal-combustion version, which is about to come next year. This model is in the late stage of development and it should come pretty soon. A hybrid version should come right after. More precise details are still unknown, but we are pretty sure that the new model will have many similarities with the upcoming sedan Mission E. At the moment, we must rely primarily on rumors.
2019 Porsche 911 Hybrid redesign
Last month, Tesla revealed a new version of its Roadster. We saw a completely new, pretty amazing look. However, the main thing that bothers all sports carmakers is that Californian manufacturer promises some mind-blowing performances. So, Porsche is one of the companies that are ready to compete. The company isn’t ready for the production of the all-electric version yet. However, they have some nice experience in making hybrid powertrains. The new model will share most of the characteristics with the upcoming new generation of the legendary sports car. This architecture is designed in such way that is also capable of the all-electric powertrain. So, we can easily presume that this is also one of the future plans for the iconic model.
2019 Porsche 911 Hybrid styling
In terms of visual appearance, we will not see some drastic modifications compared to standard gasoline models. Moreover, we are about to see a completely same styling. Test mule has been spotted on the road already. Although still wears some camouflage, we can notice that there won’t be radical changes. The evolution of the model that originally came in 1963 continues. It is the most iconic sports car of all time. So, there is no room for some radical turnarounds. We will see a familiar shape, but with many new details.
Just like base models, 2019 Porsche 911 Hybrid will be also a little bit wider than the outgoing model. Some of the notable details are new headlights, which feature similar shape but in a different angle. Also, there is a new wide spoiler and taillights with one long strip that follows the curve of the rear spoiler’s leading edge.
2019 Porsche 911 Hybrid powertrain
Pretty much all details about the new hybrid powertrain are still unknown. However, some insider information appeared on the internet. According to those reports, it seems that the new 2019 Porsche 911 Hybrid will feature powertrain similar to the new version of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. However, there is still some work to do for this specific occasion. It looks like company’s engineers are trying to find the way to reducing battery’s weight. This seems logical if we consider that potentials key rival should feature some amazing numbers. Tesla claims its new Roadster will be able to go from 0 to 60 in just 1.9 seconds.
With the new electric motor, 2019 Porsche 911 Hybrid will get so much-needed low-end torque. This should provide pretty close numbers, compared to Tesla. Also, we found some reports that suggest new 911 will have an all-electric range around 40 miles.
