One of the world’s largest car makers decided to update its concept for the Frankfurt Motor Show. To remind you, the original version of this concept had its premiere in April. Now we are seeing something that it is not so usual for concept cars – an update. For this occasion, the company promised some big changes, but we didn’t see it. Just like it is common for German car makers, big changes usually aren’t so big. Moreover, we didn’t see any radical turnaround, although it is about concept car. It looks like the company just wanted to show a version that will be a more production-like. So, the new version of the VW I.D. Crozz Electric comes pretty much only with some visual tweaks, such as new lights etc. The base design of the concept definitely remains the same, although there are some nice new design solutions.

The VW I.D. Crozz Electric is a concept car from the famous German manufacturer. It is a part of the company’s new line of car and it is pretty much all about electricity. Just like all manufacturers in the world, VW’s management also realizes that electric cars are the future of the car industry. In order to keep their excellent position on the market, they desperately need a whole lineup of a new electric car. This should be one of the first models from new lineup, but there are several other new models that company prepares. Besides the I.D. Crozz Electric, we are also about the see a new hatchback and new Microbus, which also had its premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show. These three models should be just a beginning of a VW’s new era and we are pretty sure that this will not stop on these three cars.

The new VW I.D. Crozz Electric comes with several changes compared to the model that came in April. However, base design characteristics remain the same and most of the changes are visual nature. It seems like the company wanted to present a version that will be a more production-like. So, there are new headlights that now feature LED technology. There is also a new wheels design and more noticeable body cladding that to emphasize athletic appeal. Rest of the car comes without changes. The new concept comes in red color, although the rear end is black. The roof features some kind of solar panels, which would be pretty interesting to see in the production model. Great change is also that there is no B-pillar this time. This provides more space and much easier entrance. Finally, there are many new technologies to come, such as doors-opening voice commands etc.

The VW I.D. Crozz Electric comes with the same powertrain as the model that came in April. It is a completely electric powertrain that consists of two electric motors. To provide better balance and overall performances, company’s engineers decided to put one motor on each axle, while the battery is located at the center. According to the company’s spokesman, this will provide similar handling to a new Golf GTI. Speaking of numbers, they haven’t changed since April. This model features a max output of 302 horsepower. This amount of power will definitely be enough for good performances. The company claims a max speed of 112 miles per hour, while details about acceleration are unknown. When it comes to the range, the new I.D. Crozz Electric should be able to hit 310 miles with one charge. The company didn’t announce any details about battery charging and similar stuff.

We already mentioned that the company prepares three brand-new electric cars for the future. All three should come in 2020. The VW I.D. Crozz Electric will probably be the first one to comes, but it is still early to speculate about some more precise date or, eventually, price.
