The 2019 Audi RS7 PHEV will be a completely new model from the German manufacturer. The company works on the next generation of the familiar A6-based fastback.
The original model came in 2011, based on the current A6 model. So, the second generation will come along with the new version of the famous mid-size sedan. The new model will most likely come in next year, with many novelties. We are also going to see its hi-performance variant as RS7. Moreover, we will see it in two variants.
Besides standard gasoline version, we will also see a plug-in hybrid model, which will feature even more power. Besides new powertrain, we are about to see many other types of novelties, such as new styling, new interior design, weight savings and many other. The new 2019 RS7 PHEV will probably come in late 2018 or early 2019, after the launch of base models.
2019 Audi RS7 PHEV redesign
This redesign will bring many novelties. Besides new powertrain, we will see changes in many other aspects. The company continues the evolution of its highly-modular MLB platform. The new model will feature many same design characteristics as the new A6, but it will also have much in common with the new A8. The new platform will bring many improvements. With the massive use of light materials, we expect to see a significant weight loss compared to the current generation.
The new model will also come with a completely new styling. It will keep a familiar fastback body style, but we are about to see a completely new design language. The company presented a concept car called Prologue three years ago, so the new 2019 Audi RS7 PHEV should follow this path, featuring a lot of geometrical shapes, wider grille, sharp headlights and many other new details.
2019 Audi RS7 PHEV powertrain
This is the biggest novelty for the 2019 Audi RS7 PHEV. It will come with a new hybrid configuration, similar to a new hybrid version of the Porsche Panamera. This system features a familiar 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine in a combination with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. According to the latest reports, this powertrain will be even more powerful than the current version of Panamera. We expect to see a total output of 700 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque.
With this huge amount of power, you should expect nothing less than absolutely amazing performances, such as 0-60 time in less than 4 seconds etc. The new generation of this hi-performance fastback will also come in conventional V8 gasoline variant, featuring a familiar 4.0-liter engine with max power of 650 horsepower, which is for about 50 horses more compared to the current generation.
2019 Audi RS7 PHEV new technologies
The new generation will bring many new technologies and design solutions. We are about to see many new features that will provide much better driving experience. One of the most important novelties will be a new generation of the self-driving system, which will come with many improvements. According to the latest reports, a new version of this system will feature a possibility to handle some situations without the driver having to monitor them. This isn’t a case with the current version of the system.
For example, the new 2019 Audi RS7 PHEV will be able to drive in traffic at speeds up to 37 miles per hour, completely on its own. Also, it will be able to handle pretty much all parking situations. Besides this new system, we will see many other new technologies, in terms of drive assist and safety.
2019 Audi RS7 PHEV release date
We still don’t know the exact release date of the new 2019 Audi RS7 PHEV. So far, we know that the new A6 will come in the first half of next year, while the base A7 should come somewhere later in the year. This indicates that the new hi-performance version will not be ready until the late 2018 or early 2019.
