The 3-Series has a unique line up of 4 cylinders turbocharged engines. The 3.0 liter inline 6 in the 340i models, 2.0 liter in 320i model, 2.0-liter turbodiesel in the 330i model and a twin turbo engine in the M3 version with 425 horsepower. Most of the variations have either 8 speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.

The M3, however, comes in either 7-speed automatic or manual but both with impressive power. The 3- series includes gasoline-electric and diesel plug-in variants for the consumer to choose from. However, the plug-in hybrid comes with turbocharged inline-4 connected to with an electric motor. This combination makes 248 horsepower at 310 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy is 30 mpg.

It takes seven hours to fully charge in a 120-volt outlet. However, with a 240-volt outlet, it can be fully charged in 2,5 hours. You could, however, choose to install the 240-volt outlet right in your garage at a cost of $10180 plus installation from BMW.

Cargo Space and Storage

Because there are no major structural changes to the series, the interior and cargo storage is still as useful as ever. You could easily hold five carry-ons in the cargo space and up to triple that amount if you fold down the rear seats. The stash spaces are average with fairly large door pockets which can be very beneficial especially if you use it as a family car.

The 320i model variant is the least expensive at a manufacture’s price of about $36,000. The 6-cylinder 340i variants will go for just under 50,000 while the high-performance M3 series will go for above $65,000. The 2018 BMW 3 Series Hybrid is the best choice for the price of $46,500. It is affordable to all its customers and definitely a car to watch out for in 2018.
