Rumors doing rounds have it that the 2019 BMW i3 Hybrid could officially debut sometime in late 2018. BMW has had nothing to offer ever since it launched the i3 and i8 models half a decade ago. However, emerging reports indicate the automaker could unveil updated versions of its EVs to compete favorably with the modern longer-range electric vehicles in the market.
According to a BMW insider, the next BMW i3 gets an upgraded battery pack with up to 43.2-kilowatt-hours. It is expected to hit an EPA rating of between 180 and 200 miles of electric range per full charge. The well-placed source hints that the i3 goes on sale globally before this calendar year comes to a close.
2019 BMW i3 Comes with a more Muscular Stance
As per the recent batch of photos teased by the German automaker, the 2019 BMW i3 Hybrid would feature a decent refresh. As far as dimensions go, this vehicle measures 157.8 inches long, 69.9 inches wide, and 62.1 inches high.
The next generation i3 version brings a couple of visual tweaks with advanced engineering ideas. It employs a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic body, and the chassis is made mostly of aluminum material. The A-pillar flows up the roofline and extends above the floating D-pillar. This time, the automaker has used a gloss black hue with a matte-chrome accent.
In front, all new i3 models come with full LED headlamps alongside a thinner-profile LED design. These models also comprise restyled side skirts along with new front/rear bumpers. New exterior themes and color combinations are part of the package. Inside, its cabin space is enough to seat four adult passengers.

2019 BMW i3 Engine Specs
Last year, BMW gave a significant refresh to the i3 when it got a 33.kilowatt-hourur battery pack for a range of almost 114 miles. It marked a noteworthy update as the company replaced the aging 22 – kilowatt-hour battery pack with a new one. The upgrade enabled the BEV to reach 114 miles of range per charge.
The 33.2 kWh battery pack that is available in BMW i3s model cannot compete in the same league with the likes of Tesla Model 3 or Chevy Bolt EV concerning range. That is the reason why the German carmaker opted to work on another refresh for the i3 dubbed the 2019 BMW i3. The newest model is set to present a bigger battery option when it finally arrives later this year.
