After the next generation of Ford Escape has been officially presented at the 2015 LA Auto Show, this SUV has suffered a couple of design changes. Now, the 2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In hybrid is coming. It comes with a revised exterior, two new engines and updated tech features.
Ford Escape Hybrid will feature a new SEL trim, with athletic driving manners and great towing capacity. In the most competitive compact-crossover SUV segment, Escape will remain a good choice.
2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In hybrid Looks Edgier
The exterior will remain fresh with some new features. The bumper will feature a larger cut-out and it comes with two faux openings on both side near the fog lights. However, the design looks edgier thanks to a hexagonal front grille. The grille bringing LED-infused headlights, and the air intakes are larger and with redrawn hood get some aluminum work.
The SE models will feature a Sport Appearance Package that will bring more blackout-trim accents and halogen headlights. Also, wheels are 19-inch Ebony Black. For 2019, Ford Escape Hybrid will also feature new colors like Cinnamon Glaze and Blue Metallic. At the back, the rear is stylish with new taillights. Below that, dual exhaust tips are visible as they peek a little from under the bumper. Trailer hitch receiver is optional.
2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In hybrid Interior
All of the touch surfaces look and feel more premium. The 2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In hybrid is a 2-row/5-passenger compact-crossover SUV and it comes with the new dashboard. Dash is completely new and is updated with some styling details, but it is still similar to the outgoing design. The information color screen is also mounted to four analog gauges and the touchscreen in the center stack is larger and new SYNC3 is installed.
This is the latest SYNC software that is easier to operate and features better graphics and more functions as well. Climate controls are placed below the infotainment system and USB port are mounted below climate controls. The center console is also available with new storage slots, two cup holders, and the shifter. Furthermore, the cargo space is good, and it can split bench 60/40. Also, it is now easier to access the cargo area thanks to a foot-operated power liftgate.
2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In hybrid Engine
As mentioned, new 2019 Ford Escape will feature two new engines, but the base engine will remain the same. It is a 1.5-liter engine that can deliver 180 HP and 175 lb-ft of torque. First of two new engines are 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 HP and 275 lb-ft of torque.
The third option is in 2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In hybrid a 2.0-liter engine comes with an electric motor. Those two engines combined are creating 185 HP. This hybrid’s fuel economy is around 32 mpg in a combined drive.
2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In hybrid Price and Release Date
While the base price of Ford Escape is around $26,000, the 2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In hybrid will cost slightly more, just above $30,000. There is no official announcement from Ford about the release date, but it should hit the markets in the first months of 2019.
