The hybrid version of this compact sedan came recently in Malaysia and latest reports suggest that the company is going to expand its offer with the 2018 Honda City Hybrid to other markets. This famous compact car is present for many decades.
The original model came in 1981 and we have seen six generations of it so far. Designed primarily for developing markets, it is available in many countries of the world, including India, Malaysia, Brazil and even Japan. The current generation is present since 2014, but the company already did a facelift for the current model.
This update didn’t include just visual improvements, but also brand-new hybrid version. For the first time, this compact sedan comes with an electrified powertrain. However, this version is currently available in just some of City’s traditional markets. We believe that the company will expand its offer with 2018 City Hybrid.
2018 Honda City Hybrid redesign
The 2018 Honda City Hybrid will feature pretty much the same design as the current model. It came three years ago, but there was already a facelift which included several changes. This compact sedan completely features the brand’s latest design language, and it is very attractive, despite it is available mostly in developing countries. This recent facelift has brought several new details. There are new headlights, taillights, and redesigned front bumper. Inside, 2018 Honda City Hybrid will continue in the same way. This sedan features pretty amazing cabin, which really looks upscale. Its stylish interior features hi-quality materials and it is also full of newest technologies.
2018 Honda City Hybrid features
As we already mentioned, the 2018 Honda City Hybrid will come with plenty of standard features. Some of the highlights will be a 7-inch touchscreen, satellite navigation, Bluetooth, smartphone integration, cruise control etc. This sedan even comes with some premium features like multiview parking camera, soft-touch materials, 8-speaker audio system etc. In terms of safety, there are seatbelts, front airbags, side curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, fuel reminder, dual horn etc.
2018 Honda City Hybrid powertrain
When it comes to the powertrain, 2018 Honda City Hybrid will continue in the same way. The current model came with the company’s familiar hybrid configurations. It is a system that consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and electric motor with battery pack. The gasoline unit makes max output around 110 horses, while the electric motor is good for about 30. Combined, these two units make 135 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. This amount of power isn’t fabulous, but it will be enough for some decent performances.
On the other side, fuel economy will be on a very high level. According to some sources, this sedan will be good for about 60 miles per gallon in a combined drive. Another great feature is a new, very smooth 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
2018 Honda City Hybrid other powertrain options
Besides 2018 Honda City Hybrid, you should also consider other powertrain options. This attractive sedan comes also with conventional engines. There are both gasoline and diesel units in the offer. The base model features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, which comes in pair with either 5-speed manual or CVT. It features a max output of 117 horses and 107 pound-feet of torque. It also features pretty good fuel economy, which goes around 50 miles per gallon.
Finally, there is a diesel engine. With this unit, you won’t get as much power as on hybrid and gasoline models. However, the fuel economy is unbeatable. It features a 1.5-liter diesel engine, which has a max output of 100 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. It comes in a pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission. As we already mentioned, fuel consumption is amazing and it easily goes over 70 mpg in a combined drive.
