Firstly introduced at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, the i-Pace concept is a Jaguars first electric vehicle. This SUV combines efficiency and gorgeous stylings from a British manufacturer. The 2019 Jaguar i-Pace is based on F-Pace styling but instead V6 or V8 engines, i-Pace uses a pair of electric motors and a battery pack. Speaking of premium market, new Jaguar’s vehicle will look to outpace the Tesla Model X.
The 2019 Jaguar i-Pace made its debut a couple of days ago at the 2018 Geneva Moto Show and showed that luxury EVs and hybrids are present on the markets than ever before. And for the customers, that means there are many cheaper options for something that is not Tesla Model X. Dubbed as a smart five-seater SUV that is both a family car and performance car, the 2019 i-Pace is almost ready to hit the markets. But the question is, will this vehicle really perform and meet the expectations?
2019 Jaguar i-Pace is the great looking SUV
The 2019 i-Pace looks much the same as the concept. It is slightly toned down, but it is still the same silhouette that we saw in LA two years ago. The roof looks short and low, and it looks sporty. At the front end, the LED daytime running lights are placed in the corners, and the hood now features smaller vent.
The front grille and headlamps are exactly the same as on the concept. The side changes are minor, where window trim is slightly revised and mirror caps are increased. The door handles provides a cool high-tech look and at the back, the taillights are narrower. However, rear window, roof spoiler, and bumper are same like in current one. The aggressive stance is given by optional 22-inch wheels. The doors are “normal” compared to Tesla Model X falcon doors.
2019 Jaguar i-Pace Interior Features
Just like the exterior, the interior of 2019 Jaguar i-Pace is largely based on the concept car. In order to reduce instrument and control clutter, Jaguar placed two touchscreens that will control all of the vehicle’s functions. InControl Touch Pro Duo system offers a 10-inch upper and 5.5-inch lower touchscreens. Another 12.3-inch driver display is on the steering wheel and it shows all the important vehicle’s information and data.
On top of that, Jaguar introduced its EV smart navigation system that will learn and remember the previous trips in order to better calculate available range. This system shows potential charging locations if there is not enough charge to reach the final destination. The rest of the cabin is also stylish, except center stack, is slightly wider and more conventional with the A/C vents. Overall, everything inside the Jaguar i-Pace looks modern and by latest high-tech standards.
2019 Jaguar i-Pace Engine and Charging Time
The upcoming 2019 Jaguar i-Pace is driven by the electric drivetrain that includes a pair of in-house motors. Backed with a 90kWh lithium-ion battery, the pair of motors delivers 394 HP and 513 pound-feet of torque. The i-Pace hits 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. When speaking of range, new Jaguar’s SUV will deliver 298 miles per charge.
Charging the battery is quick, and it takes around 85 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 percent. A half an hour of charge gives the new 2019 i-Pace around 80 miles of range.
2019 Jaguar i-Pace Release Date and Price
The all-new 2019 Jaguar i-Pace will debut in the second half of 2018. It will hit the market in three available trim levels, S, SE, and HSE. This SUV starts at $63,500 and it could go higher thanks to numerous trim levels. U.S. customers will have to wait for at least March 2019.
