The upcoming 2019 Lexus RX 450h is a midsize-luxury hybrid SUV. This model is a class leader in fuel economy and it offers seating for five passengers. Smooth ride, quiet interior, and amazing reliability are just some of the highlights. The list of safety features is long and safety ratings are very good as a result.
Funny thing is that the 2019 RX 450h is less expensive than the previous year model. The main reason for that decision lies in some features that were standard before but now are optional. That includes roof rails, sunroof, a navigation system, blind-spot monitoring, sunroof and heated front seats. The list of competitors is also long, and top rivals are Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5.
2019 Lexus RX 450h sharp and dynamic style
The exterior is typical Lexus. A very sharp and dynamic design is dominating on 2019 RX 450h. Up front, the grille suffered a new design that completely changes the character of this SUV. Officially, there is only one trim level available but F Sport package deserves our mention as it drastically changes the whole design.
The upgraded suspension and lower ride height are just of the highlights with this package. On the other hand, a standard model is well-equipped too. F Sport package also adds 20-inch wheels and the blacked-out C-pillar. In that way, the roof gained a unique appearance and the whole vehicle gets an aggressive stance.
2019 Lexus RX 450h Interior Specs
The 2019 Lexus RX 450h will deliver upscale materials and some nice touches boosted by modern design. The analog clock remains same but it is still very elegant. All models are available with a large multimedia screen and are operated by a console with a mounted mouse-like controller.
There is plenty of both headroom and legroom inside the cabin, even in the rear seats. Cargo space is impressive with more than 18 cubic feet behind the rear seats. When those seats are folded flat, space increases to an over 56 cubic feet. Overall, the cabin is beautifully designed and it is a real standout in its segment.
The controls are logically placed and arranged with a nice mix of buttons and knobs. On the other hand, some customers may find joystick-like Remote Touch system frustrating to use.
2019 Lexus RX 450h Engine and Battery Pack
The class leading vehicle in fuel economy segment, a 2019 Lexus RX 450h pairs the 3.5-liter V6 engine and a battery-electric drivetrain. This combination comes with an AWD setup. Gas power goes to the front wheels, while electric power goes to the rear wheels. The electric motor will deliver in front-axle permanent-magnet 165 hp and rear-axle 67 hp.
That allows the RX hybrid to launch on battery power solely. It comes with the 1.9-kWh nickel-metal-hydride battery pack. This hybrid mileage is great, especially in the city, 31mpg to be exact. Total output is 308 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque and this unit is using an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2019 Lexus RX 450h Price and Release Date
The 2019 Lexus RX 450h starts at $58,500. That price undercuts some competitors like BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.
The release date is still unknown, however, the mid of 2019 is a most realistic period of the year.
I really want a Lexus but they are so ugly that I cannot bring myself to buy it. Ugliest car on the market. Lexus deserves better. I wonder where they found the designers. At the Bass catching conference?
Just awful. If Lexus designers do not feel up to par they should get inspired by Alfa Romeo, Mercedes or BMW or Volvo. I am sure that better and more creative people are available.
Sory but I will pass.
